Workshops
NCAOSA offers three workshops per school year, free to members. Every other year, in lieu of the spring workshop, we present a three-day MiniConference in a retreat center in Carmel Valley.

We seek to host workshop clinicians who will model teaching practices that embody the philosophy of Orff-Schulwerk. Most workshops will provide material directly applicable to the classroom, while also proposing new avenues of learning and refreshing the creative spirit.

One semester of university credit is available; contact president@ncaosa.org for more information.

All workshops are Free for NCAOSA members! Join now.
Non-Member Fees Per Workshop:
Regular - $75
Student/Senior - $45;
Reciprocal Chapter Member - $20.

All workshops 9:30 am - 3:30 pm. Onsite registration 9:00 - 9:30 am. Save time and money by joining NCAOSA.
Workshops are for adults only; childcare is not available. Bring a lunch and wear comfortable clothes for movement. No dark-soled shoes on gym floors. Unobtrusive audiotaping is acceptable; please no videotaping. Bring a soprano recorder, if you like.

We are excited to bring you this feast for the senses hosted in the beautiful Carmel Valley. Our presenters are three internationally known local treasures who share a fascination with the interconnection of the visual and performing arts.

Blue is the Sea
Sofía López-Ibor's sessions will present simple visual art projects using everyday materials and explore their potential to inspire work in music, poetry and creative movement. These engaging lessons using painting, drawing and sculpture will have just been published in her collection. Blue is the Sea (Pentatonic Press 2010).

Music and the Moving Image
James Harding will explore the link between music and the moving image through miniature video projects using animation, stop-time, real-time shooting and simple editing. James has been exploring the film and music connection with middle school students at the San Francisco School, and has published related articles in the Orff Echo and the Orff-Informazionen.

Embodiment of Form
Take a journey with Susan Kennedy though a sampling of simple to sophisticated possibilities when movement and sound partner with visual design. Play with a variety of visual materials (toys, foods, weavings) and incorporate found objects and spaces to generate individual and group movement design. A fresh perspective for all ages!
