Meet the Board
Greacian Goeke received her Level III Certification at Mills in 1999. She has been teaching movement, music, visual art, physical theater and writing as an artist in the schools since 1989. She is the Orff Music Specialist at Mills College Children's PreSchool, teaching 2- to 5-year-olds and training teachers and student teachers. At Stagebridge, the senior theater company in Oakland, Greacian directs a program of elder storytellers in the public schools working with 4th and 5th graders. She also teaches Orff Schulwerk classes, creative movement and T'ai Chi to adults. She is artistic director of Impromptu No Tutu, a movement improvisation ensemble.
Sarah Noll has been teaching music and movement for 23 years.
Rachel Hartwig has been passionately teaching public school students at the elementary level for the past 11 years. She completed her Levels training through Mills College in 2003. This year is her second as the music teacher at Las Juntas Elementary in Martinez. In addition, she also teaches a number of private piano students in the East Bay.
John Ashfield teaches K-5 classroom music in the Menlo Park City School District. He also is the frontman for the pop band The Bobbleheads www.thebobbleheads.com
Jason Jones ( "JJ" ) teaches music at a pre-K through 8th grade independent school in the North Bay, and has been on the faculty there for 15 years. Currently, he is the Primary School music teacher and Director for Primary/Middle School Chorus Program. He has a private practice teaching guitar, bass and some vocal coaching. He completed the Orff levels training program at Mills College in 2004. He is currently receiving his Music Education Degree and teaching credential from Sonoma State. JJ lives in Fairfax with his two daughters and his wife of 11 years. He plays in various musical projects and works with many artists: collaborating, recording and writing. Life is good!
Amanda Hahn proudly serves as the Orffion/PlayNotes editor. Currently teaching music to 2-year-olds through 8th graders in 3 bay area schools, she has been an Orff specialist in a variety of settings since her first levels course at Mills College in 1998. Originally trained as a classical flutist, Amanda freelances a bit and enjoys performing in chamber music recitals. She is devoted to the flute students in her studio and at the S.F. Community Music Center, and tries to stay at least one step ahead of the reed players in the woodwind classes she leads.
Gina Graziano is a K - 5 music and movement teacher, union organizer, community activist and rock and roller in Martinez. Her passion is teaching and promoting Orff Schulwerk in the public schools. Gina's blog, My Life in Orff, can be found at www.ginagraz.com.
