Donations

Thanks to all of you that came to our Chevy's fundraiser events. The final tallies aren't yet in, but it looks like we may have reached our $800 goal!!!! Thanks especially to Gina Graziano, Sarah Noll and Heidi Tzortzis for bringing out their school communities in large numbers.....

At this point, we are still in need of in-kind donations for hospitality bags and thank-you bags for children's performing groups.

We need as many people as possible to go to their local supermarkets- Safeway, Luckies, Cost-co, etc. to get donations in the form of gift cards. Look at the list of common items that are often donated and go to it! Send me an e-mail to let me know the name of the business and the donation amount. Take a copy of our In-kind donation letter.....

D O N A T I O N S   BULLETIN     SPRING 2007

Hail Orffans!

A little update about where we stand on donation dollars along with some great examples of creative fundraising efforts by our members.  Thus far, we’ve received over 70-80 personal donations, and our chapter raised over $10,000 (towards our $80,000 goal) for the 2007 San Jose Conference, due to the energy and diligence of our dedicated members.  All of us stand to benefit enormously by raising the needed funds and, we can have fun doing it

Here are some simple yet effective recent fundraising true stories:

~ Heidi Tzortzis.  In addition to sewing and quilting up a storm for the boutique, she has sent many letters to parents of current or former students from her school, as well as friends and relatives, folks who know what she does for music education and children.  The results are nothing short of remarkable.  (Heidi has raised thousands of dollars!) So what’s her secret? Well, she is magical, yes.  But, she also makes personal contact before sending out a letter, so people know ahead of time what to expect and why it’s important.  Of course, many of us may not know quite as many wonderful generous parents, but we could probablyfind ten to send letters to, or maybe even… twenty!  (for a copy of the personal fund raising letter that Heidi used, click here)

~ Diane Matarangas.  As she prepared her kindergarten classes for their spring performance, she realized that the gathering of parents to witness Orff-Schulwerk in action was actually an excellent opportunity to share news of the conference and its importance to the music program.  So, she printed up colorful copies of the return insert (from our letter packets), glued them onto some envelopes and then left them out and announced their purpose to the parents after the children performed.   This simple approach produced $160 in just an hour!  Amazing! (for a copy of the fund-raising insert that Diane used, click here)

~ Barbara Martin.  Barb and her rock band ‘256’ decided to invite everyone to a recent gig at a local bar and grill, where they would “pass the hat” around for donations.  It turned out to be a great evening of dancing and rock ‘n roll – they’re good!  Anyone and everyone seemed to genuinely enjoy donating to the cause of music for our children.  And, her efforts brought in another $400!  Cool!

~ James Harding.  James donated his presenter fee of $900 for a Cupertino Union School District in-service.  Very generous James!

NCAOSA acknowledges with gratitude, the above teachers’ efforts and all the other members working hard for a successful conference.  Please do review this website for updates and call me, Nancy Zakar – 707.745.5508 for help with your ideas, stationery or further info.  We’re well on our way folks, to making AOSA Conference History and it will be awesome to behold.  Keep up the great work!

P.S.  Postage is going up to .41 cents as of May 14.  If possible, please include stamps on your letters and on the enclosed return envelopes, especially for those promising prospects.  It really helps.  Thanks!
