Welcome to the NCAOSA!
NCAOSA was founded in 1973 to assist teachers, parents, and
students in Northern California with the knowledge and process of
Orff-Schulwerk.
Benefits of membership include workshops, the Orffion chapter newsletter, access to a tape and video library, loan of an instrumentarium, and scholarships.
We are a chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association.

NCAOSA's 2009 Western Mini-Conference is coming up next month. If you
haven't registered yet - now is the time! There is still room but dorm
spots are filling. Early bird rates are good until 3/20/09. Scholarship

Affordable Dorm Spots still available
- The on-site Dorms! Where else can you bunk with a friend or two (or a
soon-to-be new friend), with your own bathroom - for just $30 a night -
that's right - $60 for the whole weekend - right on site - warm and
cozy - there are only 20 dorm rooms available so you want to register
now to assure your bed. If you're more the hotel type - the Country
Garden Inn (right next door to the conference) my have rooms but they
were filling fast - call 800-367-3336 for availability.
Opening and Closing Sessions!
Members of the board (past and present) along with the guest clinicians
have been developing the opening and closing events Friday night (8 pm)
and Sunday (11-12 noon)! . . . the four elements, the four directions,
stars, water, breath, the drum . . . We are excited about the direction
the sessions are taking and can hardly wait to sing, move, meet, greet,
create, and reflect with all of you.

Judith Thomas-Solomon - Orff Schulwerk Specialist
(Re)Connecting: Our Planet, Our Teaching, Our Music
Judith
will weave Orff Schulwerk practices and general educational
philosophies while drawing from the elemental themes of sea and sky,
earth and fire. In two dynamic sessions she will share her masterful
teaching, wonderful humor and successful classroom materials.
Michell Kawaja - Expressive Arts, NIA Movement
(Re)Turn to the Body
Michell
is a gifted teacher who brings out the joy ofmovement in students of
all ages and bodies of all abilities. Through NIA movement, drawing and
journaling she will help us get in tune with our own bodies and inspire
new ways of thinking about moving with our students.
Claude Ferguson - Percussion, Sound Sculpture
(Re)Cycled Sounds
Claude
will combine his fine arts background, RAFT teaching experience and
percussion skills in a workshop where we will build a variety of
instruments from recycled items. He also will guide us in creating a
group sound sculpture to be played in the closing session.
Friday Night Optional Sessions:
Intro to orff Schulwerk - taught by Liz Keefe
Recorder Reading Session - led by David Destafano
Friday Evening Opening - games, songs, introduction of clinicians and more.
Linden Tree Children's Recordings and Books will be on site the entire weekend with their amazing selection of books, music, puppets, instruments and more.
